Client Case Study - Around The Table Food Photography
On the 1st Jan this year, my year began splendidly when I received a beautiful email from a beautiful soul, namely Danielle Barrett, who owns and runs Around the Table. Danielle mentioned that she had been searching for a food photographer and stylist to help launch her incredible new business, and my work just spoke to her. There’s no higher compliment that I can receive and I was so excited to be given the opportunity to work with her.
How did Around the Table come to be? Here Danielle explains it in her own words:
My life was busy – with three kids (in 16 months), and the competing demands of family and work, I quickly found that at the end of a long day, sitting down and enjoying dinner together just wasn’t possible - or enjoyable.
The guilt I felt around not being able “to-do-it-all” sparked an interest to see how other parents were managing to work all day, drop off and pick up kids, and still put dinner on the table at a reasonable time. But, instead of discovering the secret, I discovered I wasn’t alone. Australian families are increasingly moving away from eating together at the dinner table*, and with this change are forgoing the benefits of a sit-down meal.
What many people don’t realise (myself included) is that by not eating dinner together, we are actually missing out on connecting as a family both socially and emotionally, as well as providing valuable learning opportunities for our children.
I wanted to make a change and realised there needed to be an easier way to “get dinner on the table” so we could then focus on what happens once we sit down to eat. With this passion I founded Around The Table, a service designed to make dinnertime easier and enable families to enjoy the many benefits of eating dinner together. With 1 in 2 Australians eating dinner in front of the television**, and increasing time pressures on parents, Around The Table provides resources and simple strategies for families to make a change.
I am passionate about helping Australian families, and the facts support that eating together just 3 days a week can make a real difference. As part of my holistic approach to meal times, I speak to parents at local schools and community groups on the benefits, so that families can understand that investing the time is worthwhile.
So what exactly IS Around the Table? Simply put, they are nutritious, delicious, chef-prepared fresh meals that feed a family of 4-5. They are designed to be enjoyed by the fussiest of kids, and if you have a family that’s bigger or eats bigger portions, you’re able to order extras with the meal. You can order weekly using a subscription service, or just ad-hoc if you prefer. I’m so in love with this service and can’t wait to see it go from strength-to-strength
The meals are all pre-cooked and require little or no prep – yes no-prep! Just heat and serve. The meals are designed to be on your table in minutes so you can relax.
Here are 15 meals that I styled and photographed, and of course sampled. Let me just say that each and every meal is absolutely delicious!!! And I’m a tough customer to please :-)
