Sweet Treats

I’m a big sweet tooth, so when I get an opportunity to photograph sweets as beautiful as those of Sweet Empire, I take it. I got to work with the fabulous stylist Bree Leech as well.

Food styling and photography is so much more than I ever thought it would be. It’s easy I thought. I just need to place the food in the right light and voila,I thought. Let the food speak for itself, I thought…. I thought wrong! It’s that and then it’s so much more than that. It’s about finding the right light, yes. But it’s also about creating the right light, setting the scene, taking shot after shot to get it just right.  What I thought would take 15 minutes, in fact takes at least an hour if not more. For ONE shot. One very special, perfect, delicious shot.

BUT.. oh em gee, I LOVE it! Moving that grain of salt so it looks just right? Bring it! Holding a reflector on my head while we position some people to use as shadows… BRING IT!

I am so loving my journey into food photography. Onwards and Upwards I say 🙂
