Andrena asked me What steps I take with my camera to get that perfect exposure?
Hmmm.. well that’s a tough one Andrena… thanks for the tough question. LOL. I guess the most important thing for nailing your exposure is to know your light. I don’t think there’s anything more important than knowing your light – where it is coming from, how intense it is, what shadows it will and won’t cast, etc. Once you understand the light – which is no mean feat, let me tell you… it took me a while to have that “aha” moment – then the next step is understanding metering.
I won’t get into the details here because I am not really good at explaining it – but I think you should look up some tutorials about metering. It’s really so, so important. Once you get your metering right in camera and you know how to read your light, you’re on the road to nailing that exposure time and time again.
The next thing that I think is just as important is learning to post process cleanly.
Good luck 🙂
